Togetsukyo Bridge, Kyoto

3.6
#59 of 784 in Things to do in Kyoto
Designed specifically as an unobtrusive crossing point, Togetsukyo Bridge not only spans the river but also offers sweeping views of the lush valley surroundings. Finished in 1934, the bridge features an unassuming and simplistic design of stilts and railings, and draws plenty of visitors thanks to its wide-open panoramas. You can cross the bridge to enjoy the vista, or look down into river waters to spot schools of koi fish. Keep in mind that cars use the bridge as well, so be conscious of traffic while taking photographs. • December 8-period has been held until 17, "Kyoto Arashiyama hanatouro." [togetsu-Kyo] with [Arashiyama] of can appreciate beautiful landscape if possible visit days, even without clouds and lit up at the foot or around the sunny day, not a cloud so recommend. It is 17:00 begins since the early time of sunset in the winter light yet and also the color of the sky rest recommended for visiting hours.

  • Stunning view of the river after the storm! Way too many tourists during the day. Also watch out for heavy car traffic on this narrow bridge. Sometimes you have to go around people talking pictures so watch for cars.
  • Nice view of the river.

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
