Toei Kyoto Studio Park, Kyoto

(3.3/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
Head to the heart of Japanese period film making at Toei Kyoto Studio Park, an historical theme park and active film set. Made to look like a traditional street from the Edo period (1603-1868 CE), the facility provides the setting for more than 200 "jidaigeki" (period costume drama) films a year, and visitors get to see scenes being shot during their visit. Catch a ninja show during your visit, and take the chance to dress up like a geisha or samurai warrior, using the convincing props and costumes used in the films. • If you are looking for a break from Kyoto's temples and shrines, this park could suit you. well. If you go along expecting it to be like Disney or Universal Studios you will be sorely disappointed. Bu...  more »
  • I went to about 30 years Buri is really a Studio-like atmosphere of the old without too much 30 年 ぶり ぐらい に 行った けど 、 昔 の 、 本当 に スタジオ の よう な 雰囲気 は あまり なく 的 テーマパーク に なって いた 。 had become a theme park. I think other buildings set in a little bit more film atmosphere there should be, but unfortunately there was little. Many paid attraction, may be disappointing to elderly people.

  • Theme parks are in fact available in the historical journal. Children can participate, that punishment helps people with a sword and cut corners and is a fun place for small children.

  • Fun park that was not very crowded when we visited, even though it was a Sunday. You get to watch some scenes out of old style ninja/samurai films live, just need to check the show times. There are also some attractions that activate several times an hour.
  • This studio park is built to look like a village of Edo period. It consists of traditional buildings and equipment which are used to shoot movies and television dramas. There are also several other attractions and amusements including ninja performances, a ninja maze, 3D theater, and a haunted house. You can also dress in traditional Japanese costumes and get photographs. However for some of the attractions and for costumes, you will need to pay extra in addition to the entrance fee.
  • Fun experience to do with kids. The Ninja Show was excellent, the stunts, comedy and music was outstanding. The haunted house is amazing as well. When my wife went in they tell you, that you can't leave once in. A girl ahead of her was begging to be let out and cried and they wouldn't, which is hilarious and awesome. Look for Power Rangers too.
  • For Japanese histric movie or drama fans, this is the legendary place. My recommendation is enjoy the location sets that we are able to walk through and touch, Edo era style streets. For the option there are ninja attractions, characters, more and more. For the 1day kyoto pass holder discount is available so check thr info before pay. Closing hour is pretty early so better ti aware. Last time of in is before an hour of closing.
  • You can see Edo-period environment and live shows here. To immerse in the ambiance, rent a costume to walk around the area. Entrance was 2,200 with additional fee of 500 for most of the attraction.
