Toei Kyoto Studio Park, Kyoto

3.3
Head to the heart of Japanese period film making at Toei Kyoto Studio Park, an historical theme park and active film set. Made to look like a traditional street from the Edo period (1603-1868 CE), the facility provides the setting for more than 200 "jidaigeki" (period costume drama) films a year, and visitors get to see scenes being shot during their visit. Catch a ninja show during your visit, and take the chance to dress up like a geisha or samurai warrior, using the convincing props and costumes used in the films. • Maeda various historical back story and you know how to make a movie or drama. Learning and culture of ancient Japan is Japan language so good but difficult for foreigners.

  • From Kyoto station on JR Uzumasa station (13 minutes, 200 yen), reception entrance is about 5 minutes walk from there. Buy tickets and can be expected to gradually as further passage. Open set of historical moment cinema village for decades, Buri could, at once increased tension. Ninja show using the oiran, projection mapping in the city of Edo was a considerable force. This is more of fun have of adult (Arafah)? So completely tired to walk back to Kyoto station hachijo exit taxi (about 25 minutes 2860 yen) available. Driver's story also expected taxi in Kyoto and was impressed.

  • This trip was primarily due to a limited period of time for the issue of the film "Silver Soul", not to mention the interest of Japanese history. Even without this exhibition, it is also a place to visit, and you can see many times in the scenes of the filming scene, and experience the feeling of being in the field like a generation. It's worth it, I hope I can stay here a little longer.

  • It was a little disappointing that all of the attractions like the maze, castle escape, and haunted house were extra after paying to get in but all in all it was fun. It is mostly for small children and is entirely in Japanese but adults can still enjoy and you can easily figure out what's going on through action and gestures. They do have a brochure in English that explains most of the attractions and where to go.
  • This is absolutely not a place for adults - lots of misleading web reviews say that it is. Might be fun with small children but nothing at all to do as an adult couple. Furthermore, after paying 2,200 yen on the door, you have to pay an additional 500 yen for each "experience" inside the park.
  • The place is everything I've imagined. The staff are also very polite and nice. It's very much worth it.
  • Fun park that was not very crowded when we visited, even though it was a Sunday. You get to watch some scenes out of old style ninja/samurai films live, just need to check the show times. There are also some attractions that activate several times an hour.
  • Its awesome. Went during a good time, so it wasnt crowded. Also the park looks authentic to the edo days. Souvenirs were really cool and the shows were amazing!

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
