  • In August, visited friends and walk I. The Park is nice and cool even in midsummer, clean air. Was not around in the huge nature park. Rowing boats in the pond that were made are very good. Comes with it's prey, such as birds and turtles can get very lovable.

  • Too large, painful walking under the blazing sun. There looks like there in front of me and thought it could escape from anywhere, just look at the map and adjacent roads and way to big, international meeting place, no zushi will be gone and and bypassing the spicy.

  • I visited sightseeing in Kyoto. Also there are plenty of attractions in the city, many people, tired. At that time treasure helpful if you visit the pond. Because it deviates from the Kyoto City Center of tourists too, locals were enjoying walks and jogging. Beautifully fresh, gourmet gone and it is just good to go around and walks. Takaragaike Hiei mountains train station was about 15 minutes on foot.

  • Good place to visit during any season. Good for family with children as well as people who loves nature
  • Takaragaike Pond & Park 宝が池(公園) : Located in Sakyo-ku near Kyoto International Conference Hall. This pond Takaragaike Pond is a place for locals to enjoy various activities. A lot of people enjoy nice scenic walk around the pond. It is always nice to have those small mountains in the backdrop when you take a walk around the pond. The surrounding area is entirely a park for leasure activities. This spacious park next to the pond is lovingly called " Kodomono Rakuen = Paradise for kids " has various playground equipments to keep a child entertained. You get an access leading to a great hiking trail around the pond. The greatest point of this place is that it is never been promoted as a tourist attraction of Kyoto. People you see in this place are mostly the locals who come here to relax in the beauty of nature. Takaragaike Pond can be a great spot for viewing seasonal highlights such as flowers of spring, wildlife and fire works of summer time, colored leaves of autumn. You can row a boat from this place. There are two different types of boat you can rent here. One is to regular rowing type ( Cost 1000 yen per hour ) and another one is Pedaling type ( Cost 1000 yen per 30 minutes ). As you can see on this picture this is one of the great spots to get a clear view of Mt. Hiei. Great way to enjoy and relax while watching a view and wildlife of this pond. At the entrance there is a cafe and Takoyaki + Ice cream stand where you can sit and eat something. You will enjoy the wildlife in this park as it is surrounded by abundant nature from fish, Koi ( carps ), turtles, birds, ducks etc. Many kids enjoy feeding Koi in this pond. There is another entrance ( exit ) on the other side of the park where you come right next to the Conference Hall. The best season to visit here is Spring & Summer. A particular space designated as " A Park of Wild Birds " is a hot spot for bird watching fans. ** Takaragaike Walking & Hiking Course : You can have another way to enjoy walking around Takaragaike Pond. It is the walking & Hiking Course around the pond. The trail is well-guided with maps provided along the way. It is recommended to take the tour in spring since it is a great spot for cherry blossom viewing and bird watching. ( Trans-word+ : TGM Kyoto Guide )

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
