Sanzen-in Temple, Kyoto

4.6
Bask in the elegant halls of Sanzen-in Temple, a Tendai school temple of imperial lineage, founded in 804 CE. As you enter its front gate, pass the series of connected temple buildings until you reach the kyakuden, or guest hall. Observe the displayed works of Japanese calligraphy and paintings on sliding doors, and proceed towards the traditional garden with a small pond and a hill. In the shinden, or main hall, observe the three statues of Buddhist deities, as well as a view of the entire estate covered in maple and cedar trees. Stop on Ojo Gokuraku-in Hall, which holds a statue of Amida Buddha, the temple's most prized treasure. To visit Sanzen-in Temple and other attractions in Kyoto, use our Kyoto online holiday planner .

I visited in the middle of September, still hot. And went in the car, but the parking lot is 500 yen from roughly 400 Yen, they parked in a location far away from 3000 up to 3000 hospital tough slope have to walk long and uphill, so people are recommended to park at the parking lot located on the. (However note the road leading up to very narrow width of the road so not sure who) within the grounds has spectacular gardens. By paying the money can't sit you order is the seat of the upcoming tea (500 yen), a beautiful garden, so I think it is worth watching. There is a famous warabe-jizo back into the environment. So Miss walking normally and blending into the nature, mysterious atmosphere somewhere. It is recommended so that the free road is going to go from the Kyoto City access bad roads are crowded, off the mountain in Shiga Prefecture.

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
