  • Beautiful and serene yet charmingly busy area of Kyoto. During our ten day trip, this was maybe the spot best representing ancient Japan. I were even lucky enough to stumble across these wonderful Maiko (aspiring Geisha) outside our cafe.
  • I loved this temple the most among all those in Kyoto. The red gates(tori) starts at the base of the inari hill and continue all the way to the shrine at the top. Its a very pleasant trek and offers panoramic views of Kyoto.
  • Vacationed to Japan, was in Kyoto for a night, and stayed off of Ninenzaka Street in a ryokan. Must see this place if in Kyoto. It takes you back to a different time. The architecture, landscaping, food, and sightseeing are unparalleled. An unforgettable place.
  • Touristy, but very fun - a wonderful workout, too. Don't expect great shopping but still wholly enjoyable all the way up to the temple.
  • Lovely slice of ancient Kyouto. Get some tea at one of the many teahouses/ice cream places with beautiful gardens for koi viewing and hanami. There are usually lots of people. The only way in and out for food deliveries is the same roads people walk on, so watch out for occasional cars and motorbike traffic. Ride a rickshaw if you want!
