Visit Saihoji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site of Zen and peace. At the eighth-century temple complex, which is covered in over 120 species of moss, you'll find a central pond, which takes the shape of the Chinese character for heart. Find three tea houses tucked away in the garden, then head to the eastern side of the complex to find the temple hall and a three-story pagoda. Use our Kyoto tourist route planner to add Saihoji Temple and other attractions to your Kyoto vacation plans.
