4/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web
The well established and otherworldly bamboo grove of Sagano conjures images of myth and legend, towering high above your head and splintering the sunlight. Along with the mesmerizing grove (also voted one of the 100 best soundscapes in the world), you'll find picturesque temple buildings to explore, reputedly aiding worshippers in fertility. Explore on foot, by bike, or by rickshaw, or step on board the celebrated scenic train ride--and don't forget your camera for the very photogenic atmosphere. The attraction can get busy, however, so consider arriving early to get a full experience. • Sagano Bamboo Grove, or Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, is a walking tour. Located in the western outskirts of Kyoto.
  • Though you will be joined by hundreds of other tourists, Saga/Arashiyama is a great place to visit. The bamboo forest is beautiful and a place of dreams and poetry.
  • The food is amazing here. Yes, they are expensive. But worth every single yen. It was for me, some of the best Japanese cuisine I have had in a long time. I look forward to eating here in the future.
