  • It is a small shrine in the bamboo grove, it is worth to pay it a visit, it has a nice atmosphere. But be early in the grove, than it is not that crowded.  more »
  • This shrine is situated in the depths of the Bamboo grove of Lanshan, and it is easy to miss, it is this very quiet. It is said that the shrine of the Wild Palace is quite efficacious for marriage, learning, production and so on.

  • Kyoto is filled with shrines and this is no different than others: many picturesque spots, pavilions and prayer cards, all in the countryside.

  • Great place to see if you're a tourist. Everything had descriptions in English (and some other languages were also available here and there).
  • Another very beautiful shrine. Worth a visit and is a good day trip in from Kyoto.
  • Largest temple/shrine grounds in all of Kyoto, and you're invited to walk, bicycle, or even drive through the grounds of this holy place, on your way to anyplace else you're headed....even when this place is closed.
  • I love all about natural view here...
  • Small shrine you can visit along your stops in this area

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
