  • With my spouse we were to be geisha and samurai for a couple of hours and make a professional photo shoot. The truth was much better than we expected. Super professional and ultra dedicated did a job that, as a result, we provide a time and a memorable photo album! If you can do it!

  • I had found this photography studio's website before leaving for Italy, so once in Kyoto we switched to enquire and book. The costs are not low, but the quality of service is very good. The Lady at reception who welcomed us speak English well and pointed out costs and services both on the day of the reservation that the day of the service, so to summarize what's included and what's not. Take off your shoes and go up to the third floor where you leave in a locker clothes and more. There is wearing a House dress will remain under the disposable kimono. In a basket you put your phone and the key and it brings with it. Go down to the second floor where is rigged so accurately for 40 minutes. You choose the kimono between the various proposed (a slightly more expensive package also included the change of clothes) and you are dressed. The kimono tightens a lot and in fact the first thing they asked me when I booked was if I was pregnant because then I couldn't wear the kimono. And at the end wearing the wig. The one I had chosen was a bit nicer than the "base" and on some strands of hair was made of wax and black color so that overlap my hair with those of the wig. Made-up and dressed I went down to the first floor where they photographed. The photographer was very good and positioned body and hands in Japanese portrait poses, with smiles with your mouth closed. 4/5 shots were made to pose and then changing. I made several photos in the studio with two panels behind (one neutral and one with the Torii Gallery of the Temple), others in a Japanese room, the tea room, in the garden and then out in front of the entrance. There was the chance to go out to take pictures on the street, but I was afraid he wouldn't get out well due to the crowds in the area but maybe they'd made in closed ways. When in doubt I preferred not to risk it. After the session with the photographer, I have been granted 10 minutes of shots that made me my husband with our machine. We asked for the courtesy to the photographer to take some photos together and hassle you made them. Finished the whole thing back to the second floor where you are stripped of everything and then go to the third to remove and wash only the hair strands that are soiled. To clean the upper back and neck is helped by a girl that also explains the products to use. False eyelashes that I had applied were to me. The room was clean and well stocked. Down to the first floor, we were handed the album, some photographs printed in black and white and the cd with all photos. Personally this experiment I absolutely loved it! I was fine with the staff and would recommend it to all.

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
