Observation Deck Tourist Spot
Enjoy a 360-degree panorama from the top of Kyoto Tower, the tallest building in Kyoto. The 131 m (430 ft) tall tower was opened in 1964 to coincide with the Tokyo summer olympics, and stands on top of a hotel and shopping complex. Visit the observation deck, which is nestled at a height of 100 m (328 ft), to observe the skyline of the whole city. You can also see the surrounding mountains, and even a couple of Osaka structures if the day is clear. Gaze through the free telescopes available on the deck, or visit the panoramic restaurant below. • A rainy day in Kyoto and this was perfect. A great view of the city and perfect to get your bearings before you set off to explore. The info-touchscreens at the top of the tower allow you to know what you're looking at, really nice way to get an overview of Kyoto. We also ate here - not at the top floor, but they have many different restaurants in a cafeteria-style kind of area on one of the lower floors. There's a bar at one of the higher floors that didn't look too expensive (and might be a good option to be up in the tower without paying for the observation deck, if you're not into that).
  • Really clean, the touch screens they have at the top to see tourist spots are cleaned every hour or so, which is nice considering a lot of people use it! Employees were nice when my mother lost something and they retrieved it. The view beautiful as well.
  • The view from top of this building is so beautiful. You can use the telescope to see Kiyomizudera and many other temple in Kyoto. From Kyoto Station, you just need to cross the street to reach this place
  • Nice place to drop by during a trip. Go underground for foods and drinks at renovated food court. Go up for a nice view at observation deck. JCB card holders issued outside Japan can enter observation deck for free.
  • Nice overview over Kyoto. Less crowded than say Tokyo Skytree. Good information in kiosk computers on surroundings.
