Kyoto Station Building, Kyoto

(4.3/5 based on 2,000+ reviews on the web)
Built in a futuristic style to commemorate the city's 1200th birthday, Kyoto Station Building serves as one of the country's main transportation hubs. Though Kyoto remains best known for its traditional architecture, this high-tech attraction designed by Hara Hiroshi stands out as a clear deviation from that style. As you walk through the station, take note of the steel-beamed roof, aptly dubbed "The Matrix." Beyond the well-known architecture, this station serves a practical purpose, providing millions of locals and tourists with not only access to major transport lines, but also shopping mall, movie theater, hotel, and numerous local government offices. • It is a huge place, with many local meals and clothing. There is everything. The terrace is very nice to see the city.

  • Kyoto Station Building combines a luxury hotel up stairs amazingly without notice, stores for shopping, small restaurants with good food, clear signs in major languages. It's a well designed facility.
  • Very well. Including shopping and eating. Traffic convient.
  • Nice station that combined the factor of modern and tradition. On the "Sky Way", you can see the whole Kyoto Tower in front of you. The "Big Steps" will light during Christmas with a big Christmas tree. That is one recommend view.
  • Nice station, lots of shops and places to eat. You can probably spend the whole day here and not get bored. Good place to take some interesting photos too.
  • A bit difficult to walk around as huge void at the center makes unintuitive
