  • Old zoo with one of the oldest in Japan. Is compromised, made major renovation, including the entrance was an old-fashioned impression, but as a result, was the changed atmosphere is fairly narrow, so I had been devised!

  • 2-year-old 5-year-old went with midweek holidays between China and Japan. Good thought it difficult all around, but also the 2-year-old have been yourself walking she enjoyed. Petting Zoo with giraffes and most nervous tension took you there. I think that does not get too crowded but has entered 14 o'clock on weekdays, group one was two. It was not particularly unusual animals is just right in the 5-year-old 2-year-old zoo

  • I stopped in because I was staying at the Sheraton Miyako nearby. I was shocked and appalled to see how the big cats are treated. The tiger pacing in a small enclosure, the lion looked to be on death'...  more »

  • Big zoo! The animals care takers seem passionate and attentive. It is a small fee to enter making this a great place to visit often! They also have a large variety of animals!!
  • Excellent zoo! Huge variety of interesting animals and the enclosure are designed so you can easily see everything.
  • It's a small zoo so cages are a bit cramped. Check the picture in my review to know more about the controversial lion.
  • I cried when I saw the lonely lion looking starved and unhealthy! The whole place looks as if the keepers have no idea how to care for the animals. Especially the tigers, he lol , the hippo and the exotic birds. Absolutely atrocious. Shut this place DOWN!!!!!
  • Terrible Place, Place is VERY small the animals are suffering, If you are trying to cry then come here. Place has a TON of fake reviews please dont go to this zoo, very cruel to animals.

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
