Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, Kyoto

4.3
Pay a visit to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, a significant Shinto shrine known for its thousands of red and white plum blossom trees. The shrine, founded in the 10th century, is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, an exiled scholar and poet who had a love for plum trees and featured them often in his famous poems. Stroll through the plum and maple groves and admire the temple building, which can get crowded due to its popularity with students, who come to pray for success in exams. • So tea cake with an admission fee of 700 yen was convinced. Take plenty of time is a leisurely look at the Maple from what I think. Avoid reckless plan, such as pressed on time? We walking that would fit. However, 2017 / 11 / 3 did not hardly leaves enjoy lol blue foliage is good to see in advance to enjoy autumn leaves.

  • Many places are full of palaces, but the Kyoto sky is one of my favorite, different seasons go to see a different wind, because there are different flowers and trees let this beauty not victory! Pray for the school to step into the northern wild sky.

  • Each 25th of each month, there is a big flea market here. Nice spot to eat local food and maybe spot some nice antiques... Btw, I just ate there one of the best takoyaki ever. A wonder.
  • One of my favorite temples in Kyoto. Come in either early Feb for the 'ume' plum flowers (festival held at that time) or on an autumn night where they light up their forest of Japanese maples along a small stream. The location is also less touristy than others during the autumn (plus, not as many people come out in the evening).
  • It's a beautiful place where you can come here to enjoy the plum blossoms. If you come 28th, you can also visit the special market!
  • The shrine is built by Sugawara no Michizane who is known as a god of academics. Fall is the best season to visit because of red leaves.
  • We stopped here during our ride to Arashiyama, nice place to visit with free enterence.

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
