Kamigamo Shrine, Kyoto

4.5
See the splendid architecture and learn about the historical importance of Kamigamo Shrine, one of the oldest Shinto shrines in the country, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded in 678 CE, the shrine complements another downriver, with the two often seen as a pair. Dedicated to the "kami" (god) of thunder, the shrine has become particularly well known for its two sand cones, made for centuries as part of a regularly performed purification ritual. The shrine features a particularly well-preserved "haiden" (worship hall), rebuilt in 1629. • Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto from about 15 minutes by car. There is also parking. It is a 100 yen every 30 minutes. I need admission to the shrine visits. It is 600 yen. Now, patching the roof in the workplace. Is that the next roof replacement will probably be 40 years later. You can experience the temple architecture. Otherwise, contains the name of the famous person roof considerably, even celebrities who visited there's appeal votive.

Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.
