Jisyu Shrine, Kyoto

(3.8/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Those who have romantic worries of all varieties might want to take a chance on Jisyu Shrine. Dubbed “the Cupid of Japan,” the shrine has served love-seekers for 1,300 years, allowing visitors to pray for help from various gods, either to fend off love rivals or increase the longevity of a current relationship. If you're seeking true love, however, you'll have to traverse the space between two magical "love stones" with your eyes closed. Legend has it that if you manage to find the second stone, placed 10 m (32.8 ft) from the first, your wishes for love will be granted. Jisyu Shrine is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Kyoto Edition.

  • I came to bring a friend from overseas, a shrine to Kiyomizu-dera. Love fortune telling stone two and eyes closed up one stone you will find true love it is. I think it good to go alone and quite spicy, so go with a friend and enjoy the funny.

  • We visited this small shrine within the complex of Komizudera. Climb the steep stairs and past the gateway leads to the temple perched at the highest point where young couples generally are to ensure a lasting and happy Union. As seen in the photos which I enclose is also an excellent vantage point If this review did you like, you can read about my many other for kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima and Miyajima on Japan and I'm glad a click on: is it useful?

  • Jishu shrine is a beautiful shrine, where you can try your luck at a blindfolded walk between two rocks. If you succeed, legend has it you'll find everlasting love, stewarded by Okuninushi-no-mikoto!
  • It's cute, you get to see Japanese school girls and boys praying for love.
  • Should visit with your darling here and make a romantic wish together.
  • Very nice!
