Daikaku-ji Temple, Kyoto

(4.3/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
One of the oldest temple complexes in Kyoto, Daikaku-ji Temple consists of a variety of Buddhist shrines connected by elevated wooden walkways. Built on the grounds of a former imperial villa in the 800s, the temple has been the site of important political, religious, and cultural developments throughout its history. See the 1,200-year-old man-made pond, the oldest of its kind in Japan, which offers tranquility and raked gravel gardens. Once famous for its moon-viewing parties, which were atended by the royalty of the past, the temple now stages similar events for the general public during full moon. • From Kyoto station daikakuji Temple bus comes every 20 minutes, 1. However, to fit on the bus, standing at almost no passengers should take one hour in the overcrowded, to stop until near the end and sit at Kyoto station. On the outskirts of the city like Kyoto because you are wrapped in silence. Yamagiwa enough without steep slopes or stairs, no modern buildings such as skyscrapers in the background. Protect the environment around temples and shrines should be the ones shopping mall, was very open for tourist visitors, and experiential learning. Voice guide be rented at an additional cost, building has a lot of attractions nearby. You should be where numerous hallways of across the Nightingale floor, stunning fusuma, fixtures for a wide variety of fun there, but most likely daikaku-ji Temple attraction of goeido usually worshipping to be placed in the cavity. It is a "Sutra," a small hexagonal building is seen at the end of the cavity, stretching long five-colored cords out of the building, connected to goeido. That has been 勅封 usually this 'Heart Sutra Hall", and opened in Boshin dog only once every 60 years. It's 2018, what next? Take a look at that time also wants to revisit.

  • 20s lived nearby. Osawa pond, take walks, Shiba Inu, was walking along the schoolgirls in caution asked way too often. Daikaku-ji Temple, is Sutra prajnaparamita Heart Sutra sutras several times, but I live far away. In the temple is, you live seems to be the Emperor of the northern and Southern dynasties, a dignified and graceful buildings. In the Imperial Palace. Slowly while watching the Osawa pond? Stop by when you go in Sagano of Kyoto?

  • Nice place if you want to take a break from the more crowded arashiyama area (nice walk from there). Great atmosphere around the beautiful lake. Worth a stop if nearby!
  • Visited during mid-Autumn festival. Really enjoyed the tranquil beauty of the lake and mountain scenery on the boat tour
  • Very well organised structure Various aspects will make you happy. You can feel many different feelings at here.
  • A beautiful temple with a lovely lake and park to take a stroll. Just 40 minute walk from tourist trap Arashiyama.
  • Pretty temple and really need to visit once in your life! Pay for go inside the temple to see how big it is, a little bit far from Arashiyama.
