Where to stay in Kyoto

Kyoto spoils visitors for choice when it comes to good accommodations, offering everything from traditional ryokans to luxury Western-style hotels. In a city used to receiving foreign travelers, you'll find that most establishments know exactly what to offer tourists and how to help newcomers to the area. To avoid paying premium prices during the cherry blossom season, consider staying in Osaka, located just a 30-minute train ride away. If you must stay in Kyoto itself, keep in mind that centrally located hotels charge more than those in the outer neighborhoods.

  • Compact shopping mall located in Kyoto. There is a decent store on the first floor, wide shop and brands available, and also Capcom Game area for children.
  • They have a Takoyaki booth here that I love! Foodcourt is quite small but has a huge Muji (I am a fan of Muji snacks so this is great!)
  • Nice Mall, people not so crowded here.
  • The biggest mall in Nishikyogoku area. First floor: huge supermarket and street food stands. Fresh fish. Second floor: clothing shops for every taste with a special attention to kids. A Mc Donald's here. Third floor: other clothing shops, a bookshop, a village vanguard
  • Wonderful selections and a pleasant shopping experience.
