  • Hiking trails can experience the most nature in Yakushima Island, Japan. To go with the drumming we come, weather permitting recommended (tough final climb is).

  • Among the many trails that you can travel on the island, this is by far the most famous and frequented, certainly for the popularity that the famous animated film "Princess Mononoke" of master Miyazaki gave him. And certainly for film connoisseurs will not be difficult to seize in every tree and in every corner of this wild nature, the filmmaker's inspirations. The path is not of the easiest, but as in others, you can choose whether to take the shortest path or make the turn wider than it has several points of interest not indifferent, and it expects about 5 hours of walking not easy but still approachable by beginners provided well equipped. You end up climbing among tangles of old roots, stones covered with mosses and cross rivers by jumping over stones. The undergrowth is very thick so the soil is moist and it's always pretty dark and even a little cold. Recommended hiking boots (on the island the rent), water and food in tow and an envelope to bring you all the garbage back. I recommend the bus since the last return is at 16. It takes about 45 minutes to get down from the mountains to the coast to where you have to arrange everything according to the non-frequent bus rides, if you haven't taken steps to hire a car (which I highly recommend).

  • Hike made mid-March. We did two loops: the yellow (3 hours of market), then we are back in the red. The beginning is very easy (paved path and staircase), then we climb between the rocks and roots. A little detour to go by a slightly steeper path to the big rock (Taiko Iwa Rock), where we have a clear view of the surrounding mountains (unless it rains!). Paths are perfectly signposted, and there are toilets at Midway. Beautiful forest, cedar trees, trees with trunks twisted roots in strange shapes, trees and shrubs growing in the trees. We went under a light rain, but this does not detract from the charm of the forest, well on the contrary. We didn't have animals in the forest, but we saw several monkeys on the edge of the road.
