Koyasan Danjo Garan, Koya-cho
(4.7/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Head to Koyasan Danjo Garan for a peaceful atmosphere in the midst of tall shady trees. Established in 816 CE, the shrine features about 20 temples, mostly reconstructions of the original buildings. Taking almost 70 years to complete from 816 CE, the complex’s oldest building, the great pagoda, has been destroyed five times, mostly by lightning strikes. Also find Kondo, which has been rebuilt six times due to being destroyed by fire during its history. It dates back to 819 CE and is used to host religious ceremonies. • One of the many must visit shrines in Wakayama. This venue is also very close by to the Koyasan Okunoin which is also a must visit destination if you are in the area.
  • Admission is needed. In the Institute, he wrote. Very large is hard to fit on the photo from close by. Take pictures from a little distance

  • A beautiful temple ground with many temples on site and a nice walk to see them all
  • Impressive but small. Single room temple, but filled with impressive things.
