Kofu Castle, Kofu

(160+ reviews on the web)
Take a leisurely stroll around the 16th-century remains of Kofu Castle, once a formidable castle, now a park, commonly used by locals for relaxing and walking. Following the original castle's abandonment in 1877, the government dismantled the historic site bit by bit until 1930. Today a plethora of plaques around the park give you an idea of what the castle once looked like by explaining where old castle features such as walls and doors stood. You can still find some of the original walls and steps, particularly around the outskirts of the site, however mostly flat green grassy patches and newly built footpaths remain. Plan your visit to Kofu Castle and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Kofu itinerary maker.

  • Is not there by Takeda Shingen, Maizuru Castle Park (Kofu Castle) is a castle of the Takeda clan. (Lol) I was an important strategic base for Takeda's destruction and then by order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Castle, to guard against Tokugawa Ieyasu in the Kanto. To walk to the quite steep, scenic view space (moats) fine is tough.
