Gazing over the Pacific Ocean, Ryoma Sakamoto Bronze Statue commemorates one of Japan's most influential samurai leaders. The statue stands 13.5 m (44 ft) high, surrounded by tall pine trees. Born in 1835 in Kochi City, Sakamoto Ryoma would later prove instrumental in uniting the Choshu and Satsuma clans, ultimately bringing an end to Japan's feudal age in 1868.
