Meriken Park, Kobe

3.9
#7 of 54 in Parks in Kobe
Explore the city's port area during a visit to Meriken Park, a waterfront area offering a range of cultural sites. Lawns and courtyards provide ample room for recreational activities and relaxation, with the grounds neatly punctuated by contemporary sculptures and fountains. The park displays some of the city's most cherished Modernist architectural works, including the buildings that house the maritime museum and the iconic port tower. Devastated by the 1995 earthquake, the park contains a memorial to those who lost their lives here during the disaster. • Kobe port and town 360-degree view from the sky-high and climbing tower. After that, new shop Starbucks Meriken Park at coffee break. Memorial shooting point objects of the bench and KOBE Meriken Park spread next to Starbucks. Is the sea breeze feels good, Kobe seems to be bright and expansive parks.

  • This is Kobe's version of Tokyo's Odaiba, but much less interestiing. Lots of restaurants and coffee places are here. Only some are good, while most are tourist traps. But you can check with Tripadvis...  more »

  • A nice big park where Japanese families go to relax and spend time with each other. Or just a place where one can chill out alone. Merikan Park has these food trucks parked along the pier so you can try a quick bite of different ethnic foods. I bought a spicy sausage from a Jamaican themed food truck. There’s toilets and plenty of spaces to sit. A Starbucks is right in the middle of the park and a good spot to people watch. There are also toilets inside. A good place to sit down and contemplate your visit in Kobe.
  • Kinda windy it’s wide open, ships and water clean breeze no complainants. A lot ppl lining up to take photos on the KOBE sign, great for numb skulls who love these type of pictures. Starbucks near buy to fill all your white girl needs, however lines long most the time and start bucks isn’t all that spectacular but does offer a place to piss and possible hot drink if you require any of those two your a winner.
  • Kobe is a charming town and meriken park is a nice place to walk around especialy around the evening. There is also the world's biggest Christmas tree, symbolizing the recovery of Kobe after the devastating earthquake in 1995
  • Very nice huge park. There seems to be a lot of events held here. Relaxing views. Nice phot opportunities.
  • Excellent park with views of the ocean. Placid and serene, a nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee.
