Kitano-cho, Kobe

3.7
#3 of 6 in Neighborhoods in Hyogo Prefecture
Plan a walk between the different buildings of Kitano-cho, a district notable for its "ijinkan" (Western-style homes). Built by American and European traders who settled in the city during the late 19th century, each home possesses its own character and references to the Western origins of its owner. Spot the weathercock atop one house, now something of a symbol of the area as a whole, and take tea in the English-influenced tea room, surrounded by fine porcelain and antique furniture from the Victorian era. • Every year, at the same time work in Kobe. Now buy souvenirs in the shops from next year fixed first time off to look at tourism, but. I heard also, I came to feel that again this year. In a town called Kitano what should do and cannot find the answer came straight to local (Kanto) is quite helpful, coming at work is firmly tourist was very comfortable. Facility if, shops are whether, that is fine without the landscape unfamiliar usually there is just happy. Onomichi and Kamakura similar terrain ijinkan and dressing the store so there is no, but Kitano is special.

Where to stay in Kobe

Kobe does best with sleek mid-range and high-end hotels offering views of the skyline; book rooms facing south for views of the bay during the day and the city lights at night. Luxury hotels along the waterfront are pricey but offer impeccable comfort and service. You can find last-minute accommodations at the city's budget hotels from the information desk in the main train station or online. For a very Japanese experience, try out one of the city's capsule hotels, known for ingenious space efficiency.
