Kitano-cho, Kobe

Categories: Neighborhoods, Scenic Walking Areas, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.8/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web
Plan a walk between the different buildings of Kitano-cho, a district notable for its "ijinkan" (Western-style homes). Built by American and European traders who settled in the city during the late 19th century, each home possesses its own character and references to the Western origins of its owner. Spot the weathercock atop one house, now something of a symbol of the area as a whole, and take tea in the English-influenced tea room, surrounded by fine porcelain and antique furniture from the Victorian era. Make Kitano-cho a centerpiece of your Kobe vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Kobe trip itinerary builder.
