Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum, Kobe
(4.1/5 based on 150 reviews on the web)
Observe the process of sake production at Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum, an old brewery now refurbished into a major tourist attraction. Realistic mannequin dolls and real tools and equipment vividly display the process of making Japan's most popular national drink. Every stage is depicted in detail, and the amount of work and passion put into the exhibits is clearly visible here. The self-guided tour ensures you go at your own pace, while highly educative videos in English narrate the history of the former brewery. At the end of the tour, stop by the tasting room to try some sake and purchase a few drinkable souvenirs for all the folks back home. • Wonderful and informative museum, with a free tasting of selected sake and liqueurs. A great gift shop with easy to understand sweet/dry and fullbodied/light scales. Fantastic service which included additional tasting samples of 2 sakes I was choosing between. Plus you get tax free (8%) if you shop for over 5400 yen and present your passport.
  • Great place if you are interested in how sake is made and taste various types. Very informative, videos in English and qr codes with extra descriptions. Takes 30 minutes to go round the place. I was on Saturday, place was not busy at all. And it's free.
  • Really great museum. You can see a lot of replica's and examples plus the information, also available in English, is very good. Best museum in the Kobe tour.
  • one of the most wonderful mesuem that show how the Japan fabrique the Sake. Multimedia material with video and sound. Guides, Bus tour space, and tourist from all the world, Canada, Korea, Vietnam and of course China. MiniMarket inside
  • Very informative and educational videos in English about how sake is made. The soft served cream is tasty, too. The store attendants there told us it taste even better to pour some plum wine on it. And, it is in fact pretty awesome. One of the limited edition sake is only available in this location.
