  • Kyushu railway history museum is pretty much perfect for the visiting resident train enthusiasts, not to mention it isn't. Pay the admission fee of 300 yen. SL is the vehicle of all time was active in Kyushu to the vehicle exhibits reminiscent of the train platform,. You can feel the real car size, power and beauty look from the outside could real retirement exhibition cars, vehicles that have been exhibited, to visit the train with plenty of real locomotives and retro. Able to exhibit vehicles inside the engine than SL and actually seeing and touching you. But the exhibition car lacks air conditioning, so summer is tough to LEDs. Kid's are so absorbed, heat stroke is important. Equipped with Simulator can experience driving on the actual route scenery in the cab of the reproduction of the Meiji era, 811-suburban train in the main building, Kyushu trip experience model panoramic exhibits, children's room. During the visit, Chinese and Koreans, family in countries such as Thailand have always dominated. Yufuin forest swallow... still active to the mini railway Park, and shopping at the gift shop on the first floor if you saw the exhibits through Shinkansen and limited express trains, including mini train ride can be at 300 yen! Note the description is "aboard". It runs up 5 throttle, whistle blaring, predetermined tracks. However, steamed in a vehicle because it is bath exhaustion is suspect. Line is single track alternately driving, such as some signals while running in and enjoy feeling like a taxi.

  • While its not as large in size or scope as the JR Central or JR East museums, still has quite a few static displays, and is great for an hour or two of exploration, especially if you have kids. Short walking distance from Mojiko Port and Mojiko Station, a good day-trip from Kokura or even Fukuoka.
  • Nice little train that the kids can drive. Nice old trains to see.
  • There are lots of Japanese trains to see, with different years. One special thing to do with kids is to get on a mini train, pretending to drive the train. All four Kyushu rails are there: yufu, yufu no mori, tsubame, and sonic. However, on top of the entrance fee, you still need to pay ¥300 more to try it, and it's NOT you who operate the train, it's just a pretend. Yet it's still fun, especially for kids.
  • Lot of Japanese Railway history can be found here. Staff cam speak in English, some of them try to help you understand. Inside have a mini railway which you can pay 300yen to drive a little train, it was fun to play with yhe kids.
  • Quite small. Much smaller than the one in Kyoto.

Where to stay in Kitakyushu

Kitakyushu boasts a good number of accommodations to host its relatively modest amount of visitors. Primarily located across the canal from the city hall, the choice includes a number of high-rise hotels and simple "ryokan" (guesthouses). Take a look to the north of the main train station for the most luxurious options in town, with extensive views of the sea and the old buildings of the dock. Holiday rentals provide a particularly budget-friendly option further inland in the main residential districts.
