Kanmon Kaikyo, Kitakyushu
(4/5 based on 160 reviews on the web)
Watch huge tankers slide below a suspension bridge with a central span of 712 m (2,336 ft) at Kanmon Kaikyo, straits that link Honshu and Kyushu islands. Go 56 m (183 ft) below the sea level on foot or by bike through one of the four undersea tunnels to get a feeling of its immensity. Along the pedestrian path next to the coast, large sculptures of epic samurai duels and replicas of cannons used in a failed attempt to fend off menacing westerners add history to this strategic area. See Kanmon Kaikyo and all Kitakyushu has to offer by arranging your trip with our Kitakyushu travel itinerary planner.

  • It would be unbearable bridge like a suspension bridge. Kanmon Strait is oldest, anywhere you imagine the Heike warriors who fought there. High-performance PA, can relax. Our hope and want to understand at once.

  • Unique experience. Cross a Ocean channel through a tunnel is just too much. The residents make it almost every day as if it were a morning walk. The canal connects the island of Kyushu with the main island Honshu in the village of Shimono seki. Walk free and not to be missed!

  • Really motoring and was that time arrived on the other side it will. It is still far from pretty. When you see things like Fireworks, but I gave up because it seems to be going to think Wow, but not also on the day and the car, as well.
