Kirishima Shrine, Kirishima

#1 of 55 in Things to do in Kirishima
At Kirishima Shrine, explore the "realm where gods once descended." Once located at the foot of Mount Takachiho-no-mine, this Shinto refuge suffered repeated destruction from volcanic eruptions. The current shrine, last reconstructed in 1715, rests surrounded by tall pine trees and ranks as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Examine the traditional Japanese architectural style, where vermilion lacquered columns and joists stand decorated with richly colored reliefs. Visit the 800-year-old sacred pine tree, believed to have powers to answer prayers. In fall, forest leaves blend with the shrine, creating a harmonious and vibrant scene. Stop by the tourist information office at the entrance for help and guidance. Put Kirishima Shrine at the forefront of your travel plans using our Kirishima trip generator.

Was interviewed on a weekday, so not many worshippers, from the size of the parking lot probably, such as new year's day events at that time quite a crowded are imaginary. I think good shrine in looking at various shrines in the size of the building itself and the art isn't enough to mention and it seems balanced. I thought it was a good stop by when I went as a tourist destination close to the.

古蹟保全十分好,古樹參天。 The temple was relocated and rebuilt here after it was burnt down by fire. It kept the traditional building method of using wood for all the temple. In ancient time, many leaders came here to seek for advise and pray for peace before setting out for wars. It was a famous and popular sites for tourist. It was a grate and beautiful temple surrounded by tall and thick woods / tress. People feel peaceful while walking into the area. You feel walking back to century. Good place for photographers.
