Katori Shrine, Katori
(4.4/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy the elegant vermillion, golden, and black color scheme of Katori Shrine, the most prominent of several hundred Shinto Katori shrines in an imposing early 1700s building set in a large forest. Dedicated to a warrior god, the shrine enjoyed great popularity among the samurai. It also gives its name to one of the three major sword-fighting styles in Japan, and was revered by the Imperial Court as a guardian shrine of the nation. Many impressively old, large trees around the shrine remain preserved due to a taboo. Colorful seasonal processions take place at the shrine, while plenty of good restaurants around the temple offer "unagi," a freshwater eel specialty. • Some cheeky pictures from Kashima Grand Shrine. When we went martial artists were gathered to train for an embukai and so our main part of call was the Butokuden, a large dōjo at the shrine. Although ...  more »
  • Shimofusa country, it is very splendid shrine. The Chrysanthemum exhibition being held and very beautiful. Into the shrine after the Treasure Museum, saw the guardian dog of old Seto sea grape mirror of national treasures and important cultural properties. Sea grape mirror reproduction was displayed. Treasure House was clean, the description is easy to understand. We went from seeing the keys you have. Keys is from 5 minutes in the Forest Hill (maintained) climb. Hope to see deer in the deer garden is behind the next time. Ample free parking at the entrance of the Causeway.

  • In family photography, but not from where people seem to shrine officials came, "huh huh-take no hurry up and go out!" And candor from the beginning. If the ruling says permit "in where allowed to take me for help" and just described would be good enough, focusing on is the way. And I say, is said to have taken on a personal? I feel. Here is where the visitors looking uncomfortable.

  • Beautiful well maintained shrine with large trees and beautiful ponds, well worth the time to go see if your in the area.
  • After Kashima Jingu Shrine to the car was about 30 minutes, so we had to worship together. Think Kashima Jingu Shrine and unlike many stairs and slopes, wheelchairs and have struggled, but Sando is a great place to comfortably visit the sacred. I think if the Japanese Tsu undergone major respect became interested in making "Shirasu" country with takeru takemikazuchi, enshrines the most important place, because if I visit once.
