Karatsu Castle, Karatsu

(3.6/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy a view of the ocean and the city panorama from the top of Karatsu Castle, a landmark of Karatsu constructed in 1602. A must-see if you are in the area, the castle grounds, using the ocean as a natural moat, feature a small park with 100-year-old wisteria trees. The museum inside the castle tells the story of samurai life and local history, displays a substantial collection of pottery and swords. Walk up to the observation deck which, at the end of 200 steps, offers sweeping views of the Bay of Karatsu. The castle lies 3 km (1.8 mi) from Karatsu Beach, making for a nice hike with memorable scenery. • This is the sea Castle is located on a sandbank at the mouth. Wisteria Wisteria season to enjoy in the beautiful sea view from the Castle and the town and Castle itself is beautiful, is not to be missed. By the way next to the high school of Waseda saga. I guess from the birthplace of Okuma Shigenobu's saga.

  • Beautiful castle on a bucolic location, with astonishing views of the bay. It costs 100 yen to use the parking and the elevator and another 410 yen to enter the castle.
  • It is a 30 minute walk from a train station. The town is lovely, and so is the castle. The view from the top of the hill is astonishing. Go on a good weather day, and you should be back with some good memories.
