Castle Historic Site
Enjoy a view of the ocean and the city panorama from the top of Karatsu Castle, a landmark of Karatsu constructed in 1602. A must-see if you are in the area, the castle grounds, using the ocean as a natural moat, feature a small park with 100-year-old wisteria trees. The museum inside the castle tells the story of samurai life and local history, displays a substantial collection of pottery and swords. Walk up to the observation deck which, at the end of 200 steps, offers sweeping views of the Bay of Karatsu. The castle lies 3 km (1.8 mi) from Karatsu Beach, making for a nice hike with memorable scenery. • Shiroyama 停memasu car parking far away a little more, so. From the parking lot looks surprisingly clean. So weak my wife's legs were slanting elevator goes up in there. "Karatsu Castle", is built in a retainer of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, TERASAWA Shima Mamoru was 0/1602 (1602) near Nagoya Castle demolition materials. This day is being repaired the Castle, is not on the inside. Outside the well, well enough though. Facing the sea Castle, so called "sea Castle". Castle, mainly sandy beaches along the coast crane wings spread as seen from "Maizuru Castle ' at least is known. Good views from the stone walls.

  • Location until the castle was under renovation, but climbing the stairs in approximately 5 minutes, Castle staff. Wonderful views of the sea of Genkai. Next time look from a well-known nijinomatsubara.

  • Visible from the castle on the Hill could unfortunately not allowed in Tower construction, Genkai sight is fine. It can live longer if you chose while watching the scenery.

  • Lovely castle with a view of the sea and its surrounding area. This was featured in Yuri!!! On Ice as Hasetsu Castle. This place makes for a good trip from Fukuoka. The train ride from Hakata Station to Karatsu Station takes about sixty-five minutes. Walking to the castle takes about twenty-thirty minutes, while a cab will take you there in about five. There is an elevator you can pay to get to the castle from the bottom of the hill, or you can climb the stairs.
  • Omgg It just almost the same as in YOI!!! Damn I really want to go there 😢
  • just amazing ! i can't express the beautiful and peaceful feel that i was experimented but the only problem was the castle now is closed by constructions works
  • I came here bcs yuri on ice 😍
  • Beautiful view of the bay. Great place to relax and enjoy the view from the garden.

Where to stay in Karatsu

Many of the accommodations in Karatsu form an orderly line next to the Matsuura River, or along the coast. Things certainly get a little more luxurious by the sea, with rooms offering extensive views along the coast, onsite spas, and fine-dining restaurants, as well as good access to the beach. Look inland towards the main train station for a range of business hotels designed for one-night stays, side-street guesthouses, and the odd hostel.
