Kanazawa Castle Park, Kanazawa
(3.8/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
With its gardens, impressive walls, and carefully considered architectural features, Kanazawa Castle Park tells the story of the "daimyo" (regional lords) who lived in and ruled from its grounds. The castle complex features a stone watchtower, a massive warehouse, an ornate gate, and expansive landscaped gardens. Look up to see the castle's whitish roof tiles, which are made of lead and were allegedly melted into bullets in times of siege. Placards and signposts scattered around the grounds offer viewers more information in English and Japanese. • And 6 Park are connected by an overpass, the base admission is free of charge. If the sights of faraway entrance fee is required. Including what Castle and Castle the Castle does not exist. But dotted with expansive grounds and without the castle walls and gates are great. Expected Kaga hyakumangoku Castle (in ruins). Heart was washed by so much beauty.

  • Beautiful park. Great for spending an hour or two walking around and enjoying the many trees and gardens. Went on a 3 day weekend and it was not too crowded. Took a taxi from Kanazawa station and got some really good local knowledge about how to get to higashi-Chaya, well worth the extra money...instead of taking the train. Enjoy!
  • Beautiful Castle and Park. It can be visited within 2 hours. The admission to the park is free, the castle costs 310¥ but the views are worth it. If you come from Kanazawa Station you can walk for 30mins or pick bus number 6 or 7, it's about 200¥ (Suica card not allowed)
  • Great tour. Interesting castle with great information. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend!
  • Even though this castle never had a typical high castle structure, the city has been restoring the place to match the original. The massive wooden structure inside Sanjikken nagaya is impressive. If the weather is nice, walk to Inui yagura remain to enjoy a lovely view and relax.
  • Beautiful scenery, a lot of signs are in Japanese (expected.) if you can read or translate then it's much better. Very cheap too enjoyable day out and very easy access via the bus
