Kanazawa Castle Park, Kanazawa

Categories: Castles, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.8/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web
With its gardens, impressive walls, and carefully considered architectural features, Kanazawa Castle Park tells the story of the "daimyo" (regional lords) who lived in and ruled from its grounds. The castle complex features a stone watchtower, a massive warehouse, an ornate gate, and expansive landscaped gardens. Look up to see the castle's whitish roof tiles, which are made of lead and were allegedly melted into bullets in times of siege. Placards and signposts scattered around the grounds offer viewers more information in English and Japanese. • build on top of a small mountain with big walls surrounding the place some parts are being rebuild. due to fire and the destruction by fire
  • Took a walk early in the morning. I felt that cost money, and in very good condition. Stone wall and gate is respectable, though not the Castle Tower and I was impressed.

  • Not going to lie, but it was a bit boring. Pretty, but boring. Would look better at other points of the year, just not now that it's coming out of Winter. I'll definitely come back in Autumn or mid Spring.
  • The attending Gyokusen Inmaru garden is worth a visit especially during the light up 11-20 March.
  • There are details of the construction of many of the castle components. It's surprising to know the fact that rebuilding the castle had a total cost of approx 4 billion JPY.
  • Free English guide, informative. They had beautiful light shows at night when we were there in Feb 2016
  • Impressive architectural techniques well demonstrated at this reconstructed castle.
