Kaminoyama Castle is a hirayama-style Japanese castle located in the center of the city of Kaminoyama, eastern Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. Throughout the Edo period, Kaminoyama Castle was the headquarters for the daimyō of Kaminoyama Domain. The castle was also known as "Tsukoka-jō".HistoryThe first castle on this site dates to the early Muromachi period, when the area was under the control of the Tendō clan. The area was contested between the Mogami clan and the Date clan, changing hands several times. The foundations of the present castle were built by Takenaga Yoshitada, a retainer of the Mogami, in 1535. However, after the establishment of the Tokugawa shogunate, the Mogami were dispossessed, and a new 40,000 koku domain, Kaminoyama Domain was created. Thereafter the castle and Kaminoyama Domain passed through a number of daimyo clans, often for only a generation or two, and its revenues were often reduced. Under the Toki clan, a donjon was built, but it was destroyed when the clan was transferred elsewhere in 1692. In 1697, the castle came under the control of the Fujii branch of the Matsudaira clan, which continued to rule over Kaminoyama Domain until the Meiji restoration.

  • I feel that to be honest, as a museum to showcase what is scarce. However, the pride of this land that is understood well. I think that is really notable at warring States period, during the Edo period the material feel poor. Excites the imagination is that the castle was built from scratch as a Museum and exhibition rooms in a modern, rather looked at from the outside. However, the Internet currently covered under renovation, it even is not satisfied. Funny assortment in stores. Will buy other than Sengoku era sugoroku and Edo correlation diagram clear or warring States period have clear correlation diagrams, and more. So buy any Castle, watching the fun.

  • Not a big castle, but you can see the city of Kaminoyama from it. The museum inside exhibits several historical items. There's no English description around the castle, even inside the museum.

  • Interesting for historical story.

  • Ample space to leave your car on the fortress No. 1 and no. 2 Piazza. No longer have to worry about waiting for parking, Festival, except for special occasions, not so. Cherry Blossom Festival before 6-went to the blooming 7-Sunday parking is 7 percent ranked buried (or partly cloudy rainy was also may be). So go on aerial photography looks, from the parking lot of the new village tail covered with rope, first please note because it cannot be out in the parking lot. Hotel is possible, but requires permission and publish on the web. Recommended Samurai and crab sentō Museum to explore together the.
