  • If, like me, you make a city trip to a full day in Kamakura (since Tokyo in general), I recommend the hook by Sugimoto-dera. It is 25 minutes walk from the train station of Kamakura, a little challenging, but worth it. It's quite hard to find, just a small road perpendicular to Kanagawa-ken, but the counterpart is that it has almost person so it is well hidden! It is above all what makes a really peaceful and charming atmosphere to the place. The famous staircase covered foam is original, it is forbidden to access on the one hand to preserve, and especially to avoid accidents as it is damaged. Another more recent staircase on the left you will lead to the temple where you should not hesitate to ask a calligraphy with the name of the temple, its buffer, and the date of the day of your visit... it is cultural to the Japan when visiting a religious site. Admission to the site: 200Y (€1.50) and duration of the visit: less than an hour.

  • In the old temple has a fine stone. Can't get through part of the MOSS photo, there are detours. In size there are so loaded with old, pretty slick. After the rain, I'm even aware at the feet, do not visit. Rising at the back of the Museum, where you can admire, so it is very valuable.

  • This temple is not very well known so little about world come visit it this is not more evil because is a very peaceful place. 2 steps of the bamboo forest, a few steps will lead you to a small Buddhist temple. The former filled stairs of foam is really photogenic with a little ray of sunshine. Tip: take the stairs to the left of the temple in amount and you can see Mt. Fuji! Entry: 200Y

Where to stay in Kamakura

Given the easy access from Tokyo via a number of public transport options, the vast majority of visitors to Kamakura choose to stay in the capital and head here for a day trip. If you feel there's too much to see in one day, then you'll be pleased to find a decent selection of accommodations in Kamakura itself. Down by the sea sit perhaps the most luxurious of the crop, with sea views high on the list of desires for those who stay here. Follow the river as it snakes inland past the train station, and you'll see a good number of more standard hotels, as well as particularly budget-friendly guesthouses.
