Sasuke Inari Shrine, Kamakura

(4.2/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web)
Sasuke Inari Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Kamakura and the site of the Hidden Village of Kamakura. It is located very near the Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine.HistoryTradition holds that Sasuke Inari Shrine was created by Minamoto Yoritomo. While in exile in Izu, Yoritomo was visited in a dream by an old man from the Hidden Village of Kamakura who instructed Yoritomo of the timing to begin battling his enemies. When Yoritomo succeeded and became Shogun, he created this shrine in gratitude. An alternative to this story has an Inari Fox messenger appearing in Yoritomo's dream.According to Kamakura Historian Shimizu Ginzo, the hidden village that was adjacent to the shrine was the dwelling of a band of people that were the antecedents to the Ninja. The remoteness and easy defensibility provided the necessary seclusion to conduct their activities which included elimination of enemies of the Kamakura Shogunate.

  • I'll come at time when outstretched foot from Kamakura station to want to become a quiet mood. It to the middle of a residential area in big money washing Benten towards stroll from Enoshima electric gate side of Kamakura station, walk and appears a Torii at the end. I think that because information is often lost. Torii is followed to the Summit, laid back can get up the stairs. MOSS also steamed or, sometimes when we see Taiwan squirrels and birds calm. Recently Torii gate repaired much of it? Feel it in the atmosphere, hear the voice of those who want the feel and very clean but don't know why you feel calm is very like. Hustle and bustle around the Kamakura station is like a lie can get up further on the main stairs and walk on the left side. I think I could get us straight up as I go way left mossy's recommended. Little Mr or lot is dedicated and will feel more calm. You can also, as walks the walk. Way I skate, so go here to sneak non-slip is required. For the first time, and clean up with and is especially recommended when you want to calm down feelings won't be flashy, but tired and wants to rest feeling when recommended.

  • Sen wash Benten, en route, to swerve. I went from that long-awaited beforehand as a comic stage. And when you have time to spare so there is in a very good location, but must not go good. Climbing the stairs of Red Torii gate, what transmission it like I want.

  • It is a shrine said to bring to the job. It takes about 20 minutes walk from station. Don't overlook the signs located a little confusing because the Middle note. Red novoli was a striking shrine. Inari Shrine is only the image of the Fox lot in the stairs. It is better because a Dim shrine visits in the morning as possible.

  • Cool shrine you can access either from the normal front entrance via the road, or you can take a small hike through the hilly forest from the big Buddah side. The thousands of small porcelain foxes are a unique sight.
  • My wife and I found this shrine completely by accident, and it was honestly my favorite. Thousands of tiny fox statues, up the side of a mountain, no crowds. It was great.
  • Small shrine with various statues of foxes. No entry cost.
  • Correct
  • Surrounded by green and mysterious feel. Fushimi Inari's have different translations are by and large as is not good.
