Mt. Shiroyama, Kagoshima

(4.3/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Hike to the summit of Mt. Shiroyama to reach a picturesque observation area, which affords spectacular views over the city and bay, stretching to the imposing Mt. Sakurajima beyond. Most visitors can manage the fairly modest 107 m (351 ft) ascent to the viewpoint, but be sure to wear comfortable footwear and bring along some water nonetheless. Consider bringing a picnic to enjoy at the observation platform at the top. Add Mt. Shiroyama to your Kagoshima travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Kagoshima family vacation planner.

  • Photography is a hobby so I went, but rainy. Knowing rain was also going but did not. Didn't I see truly great Sakurajima on rainy days.

  • Sakurajima is very good because it was sunny. Worth going there I think. I'd go on a city tour bus or bus, bus stop is same both. From there I walked down, will arrive in less than 5 minutes. So there is a volunteer guide who listening to and I could tell.

  • Is the impression of the trip up to shiroyama Observatory wrote is dangerous to start walking at night. Because Nabi Saigo cave walked from dawn, but I even more so I use Google navigation, trail is unlikely because the bus will come to the scary mountain climb and comes meandering roads and cars down scared Google the Saigo cave come through so mountain road on the stairs are no feet, scary and dangerous night excursion buses to use wisely
