A good clear airport located on an artificial island; the food and drink prices are very reasonable; the airport itself is like all other public monuments and buildings in Japan very clean; the staff is distinctly friendly and helpful

Nice modern, big, systematic airport. All staff speaks English and are very helpful. The staff helps passengers to check-in, queue for transit train, queue for immigration or custom check etc. Although the crowd is enormous in Terminal 1 the waiting time is very short indeed. Immigration clearance is one minute per passenger. If you do not have any luggage, from the time you reach the airport until you get to your gate, it takes an hour or so. When you first arrive at Kansai, buy your Osaka Amazing Pass downstairs. It cost 3300 yen for 2 days. You get free entrances to many tourist spots such as museums, zoo etc. If not free, you will be given discounts. You can also use this pass for subway trains but NOT for trains going out of Osaka. Unlimited use until your 48 hours usage is over. You cannot skip a day. Once used the countdown will begin. Then move over to the next building to buy your Kansai Pass for 2000 yen. 500 yen remained as deposit and you cannot utilise it. You will get back that 500 yen when you returned the card upon leaving Osaka at the counter. Top-up the card, min 1000 yen per transaction and use it for subways and other trains such as Kintetsu if you wish to go Nara deer Park. The top-up machine has an English option. You can also buy JR Pass or other passes.

Very user-friendly airport. Modern built on a man-made island. Strange the architecture look similar to KLIA, Malaysia cos it was designed by the same architect. The difference are the service provided and the cleanliness are mile apart. The ground staff from luggage, immigration, custom, ticketing and bus driver are first class. Arigato Kansai International Airport. It not the building makes the airport great, but the people that runs it.

Nice, big, clean. Friendly staff at Terminal 2 (Peach). Not a loot of shops or restaurants though in Terminal 2. Have to go to domestic terminal to eat. Terminal 1 has more international flights and a lot more shops and restaurants inside. Can't check in earlier than 2 hours before flight in Terminal 2 (Peach aviation). So if you're early you'll have to wait in check- in area where there are limited seats and nothing much to do . Plan accordingly your arrival.

Everything is fine except that the queue to clear departure security screening is too long and took over 40 minutes , in both the two occasions i flew from here. could have more counters for such a huge Airport. If you have enough time, try the free shuttle bus trip to the observation deck. The view is worth a visit.

The facilities are decent and the shopping experience is good. The food is good too. But it is very cramped and crowded. The que for the departure and the immigration is long and takes more than 2hours. Needs expansion.

Where to stay in Izumisano

Most visitors choose to stay in Izumisano after arriving or before departing from Kansai International Airport, so the largest variety of accommodation options lies concentrated in Rinku Town, a part of Izumisano connected to the airport island by bridge. Large mid-range hotels surround the main train station near the bridge, often offering discounts if you reserve your room in advance. A high-end hotel, usually frequented by the airline staff, sits on the island itself.
