Himeyuri Peace Museum, Itoman

4.4
#3 of 71 in Museums in Okinawa Prefecture
Commemorating the tragedy of over 200 student nurses, as well as the teachers of two girls’ schools conscripted to take part the 1945 Battle of Okinawa, Himeyuri Peace Museum documents the battle and explains the circumstances behind the victims' death. Tear gas and grenades killed 136 students working in an underground military hospital in the face of invading US troops. The museum features portraits of all of the young victims and has volumes of testimonials and memoirs by 90 survivors, forming part of the popular memory trail on the island. Some 15 km (9 mi) south of Naha, the museum lies 3 km (2 mi) west of the Okinawa Peace Memorial Park. The misery of the war. See war of Imperial General HQs, Tojo Hideki said to military officials, or purposely misread low brain difference between addition and subtraction. Super 身勝手sa defend themselves also have to sacrifice for their nation. Okinawa fell victim to a schoolgirl. Through the sadness, was stunned. Build the best antiwar strategy to reciprocate in the spirit, and the execution is required.

I visited with a family with children. Arrived by car, neighborhood stores and restaurants could park free of charge. You could know the history of Okinawa resort image and a completely different area. Learned in textbooks could not feel more strongly that virtue could have actually come to visit and hear the experiences of students in really dire situation was. Who said war is never let the experiences are conveyed and heavy. Seems to be the year clung on to the message children of elementary and middle school students. We recommend experiences of a predetermined plan, so check beforehand.
