  • If anything, it was "Ishinomori Mangakan" for children. It is an image that there were a lot of sightseeing of the family. With the theme of the Great East Japan Earthquake, i stopped by the "Ishinomori Mangakan" when I traveled by car along the Sanriku coast of Tohoku. "Ishinomori Mangakan" was reproduced very beautifully, but the surrounding area was still under reconstruction work. For this reason, I remember that "Ishinomori Mangakan" stood out strangely. In the "Ishinomori Mangakan" is a memorial hall of Shotaro Ishinomori from Miyagi Prefecture famous for the manga "Kamen Rider" series and "Cyborg 009", It was more of an exhibition of the hero character of Shotaro Ishinomori's cartoon than an introduction to the history of Shotaro Ishinomori himself. Therefore, the children were more pleased if they were. Personally, I was a little disappointed because I had more image of Shotaro Ishinomori's own history than the character. It is such a "Ishinomori Mangakan", but I thought that it was a memorial hall recommended for children and families. Why don't you visit with your family? Recommended for families.

  • The reconstruction progressed more than I expected, and there were few traces of the tsunami on the way to this place through the Ishinmaki Manga Road from Ishinomaki Station. However, there are a lot of places where the construction is still done in the vicinity of the nakasu of the mouth of the Kitakami river where the Stone no Mori Mangakan is built. The former Ishinomaki Christs Orthodox Church, which is just around the corner, was also restored to the public in March, although its exterior was restored nicely. Since Ishinomori manga has been featured in many tv animation slates, we were able to view them with special exhibitions held from time to time, with a special feeling for the middle-aged and older generation. However, science fiction-based manga, where cyborgs and robots are active, is becoming an object of old-fashioned and nostalgic talk as time goes by, so it may be difficult to survive in the future without attracting the interest of future generations with generational change. In addition, there are few other highlights of ishinomaki city area that attract the interest of tourists from outside the prefecture. For this reason, you will need two more tourist destinations in the vicinity that will be worth travelling long distances just for a tour of the Ishinomori Mangakan. Also, as for the exhibition, i have a strong impression that it is biased towardcyborg 009, including manga road figures. Is there a copyright issue in the original tv anime or live action?

  • This is a theme park of the man painter who represents the local area. It is divided into permanent exhibitions and special exhibitions, and can be enjoyed in a wide range of exhibitions, from first-time visitors to repeat visitors. The permanent exhibition has exhibits featuring the main works, and the masks of Showa Kamen Rider in particular are a masterpiece. It was a visit during a large holiday, so it was lively with children.

  • Visited with a friend that is into Manga, but not my thing. Reasonably interesting.
  • To preface, I am a huge fan of Shotaro Ishinomori. But I’ll do my best to put the fanboy aside for people who arent aware the the guy. Bottom line, its one of the coolest places in Northeastern Japan. Ishinomaki is a town that was loved deeply by a man who would be better known as the King of Manga. So much so the guy adopted the towns name into his own. From your first steps out of the station you will see statues from Ishinomori’s works all over. Cyborg 009, Kamen Rider 1 and V3, Robocon, and so many others. If you follow them you will find yourself at the museum. The building being called a “space ship” is a wonder. Autographs in bronze, a hand extended out, a statue of the hero SeaJetter Kaito, cut out characters, and the Tridoron from Kamen Rider Drive parked up front. Try to get there when the mobil comes from the ceiling overhang, it plays music and has moving characters, its amazing! Walking in you will be greeted by staff cosplaying as the Cyborgs from Cyborg 009. They even have business cards with Ishinomori styled portraits! The downstairs area features gorgeous murals of Ishinomori’s characters, a tantalizing gift shop, a board featuring a summarized timeline of Shotaro’s life and accomplishments. There is also a model of the building he called home alongside his manga family. Before heading up the ramps, check out the vending machines and have a drink next to Kamen Rider 1 on a bench, or make a souvenir photo! On the way up the ramp you will pass the theater. Please try to watch all they shows. Theyre all in Japanese of course but its easy enough to follow. Theyre all well done and very sweet. If you like tokusatsu, you have to see SeaJetter Kaito’s movie, its only shown there and its great! Up the ramp has portholes featuring popular works, as well as light panel walls and one very interesting porthole optical illusion featuring the inside of Kamen Rider 1’s body modifications and inner structure. There are two main features on the second floor, a special exhibit featuring manga artists, and a walkthrough of statues, memorabilia, art, costumes, games, interactive exhibits, all dedicated to Ishinomori’s work. Third floor has a manga library with real gems and full of other activities like animation computers and drawing stations for kids. Just past it is a cute lil cafe with a view of the sea and giant vinyl superhero figures scattered on their windowsill. Food and drinks were great~ Go spend 3 hours there. Its a real blast and super impressive. Be cautious in the gift shop! Everything there is great! Budget yourself appropriately! Not overpriced, its just tempting enough to keep you buying more~ Love this place so much and would absolutely take friends and family there. Would be best for kids over 5 and is handicap accessible!
  • Looked great from the outside. Make sure you check the times of normal operation before your visit. A mistake I made during my visit and they were closed at the time. Although, I still took a few nice shots of the outside of the unique building.
  • Worthwhile place to go especially for adults grew up wz all these lovely iconic characters I hv been there 3 times and I still love it
  • It's a Manga museum about an hour away from Sendai Station. Albeit smaller than the Manga Museum at Kyoto, it's still a fun tour. 1 floor is for information and souvenirs and a movie room, 2nd floor is where the bulk of the exhibits are, such as Cyborg 009, Kamen Rider through the years (along with some interactive games), Hotel etc. 3 floor houses the workshop, manga library and a cafe. Don't expect too much, it really is a small place. But for people who grew up with these manga, this is definitely a place to go.
