Kabira Bay, Ishigaki

4.4
Must see · Water Body · Nature / Park
Kabira Bay, the most photographed sight on the island, remains noted for its pristine white sands, blue waters, and lush vegetation. Although it's not safe to swim here due to strong currents and the presence of jelly fish, you can enjoy the picturesque vista from land, or take a ride on a glass-bottomed boat to observe the coral reefs and manta rays from the surface of the water. • It seems this famously beautiful bay has been over-touristed and is on its last legs. The views from land are still very beautiful, but the glass bottom boat ride was very disappointing, since the...  more »
  • Beautiful scenery and views of the locality. That said, the glass bottomed boat trip is a wast of time. 30 minutes which could be better spent elsewhere. However, the bay itself is beautiful.👍🏻😎  more »
  • You are not allowed to swim on Kabira Bay. The popular thing is to go on a glass bottom boat ride to see the coral reef. There’s also nice spot to take pics from above. The place is beautiful, sure...  more »

  • One of the most popular tourist attractions on Ishigaki. Easy to reach by public bus. The white, sandy beach serves as a foil for the crystal clear water, which is light green to light blue in colour due to the reflection of the sky. No swimming. The sightseeing boats offers tours to see observe the coral reef. The bay is next-level beauty.
  • A beautiful beach, variety of colours of the water, crystal clear. Easy access, viewing point. The most touristic beach on the island, so you have boats everywhere. Still not overcrowded at that time (January). Barely shops and restaurants, prepare for that. Drinks are available, most people come by boat, we came by bike. Must see and worth it!
  • The color of the sea was just amazing, highly recommend to come to see that amazing view and drive along the west coast of the island if you're moving from the main downtown area. The only minus, since it's a touristy place, souvenir prices are a bit higher than the ones of the local supermarket retails. And not many options to sit down to eat, rest.
  • soft sand makes you imagine what it may like to feel if you are walking in the cloud and beautiful beach. BUT UNFORTUNATELY TOO MANY GLASS BOAT for tourists ruined the view of its original look. It even makes it look too industrial. I know people are trying to accommodate as many as possible and all but that is TOO MANY GLASS BOAT in and out.
  • Stunning bay with nice azure colours. There are a few boats offering sightseeing tours of the bay, some of them with glass floor to see the fishes. No swimming or diving is allowed in the bay to help protect the corals and sea life (however there are quite a bit of litter on the beach). Still a must see place when visiting Ishigaki.
