Imabari Castle, Imabari

3.9
#2 of 16 in Historic Sites in Imabari
Step back in time and explore the early 17th-century atmosphere at Imabari Castle, one of the three well-known "castles on the sea." Though destroyed by order of the Meiji rulers, the edifice underwent reconstruction in 1980. Observe the citadel's ingenious seawater moat, which can control the water level through use of the tides and a series of sluice gates. As you enter, note the unusual main gate, featuring iron plating and turrets. Climb to the top of the castle for views of the surrounding complex, moat, and cityscape and port beyond. • Digging and were at the gate. Mine was using sea water will be facing the sea as well as Takamatsu and Uwajima Castle. In addition, Korai gate with iron gate and guard gate designed politicized get smashed the enemy attacked us, seems to have given great influence after the castle building. Castle towering on the can, from all corners of the city to see the cool stuff there was a view from the tower. I think 100 yen at one time was parking in front of the gate. Also of plum blossoms, buds of cherry trees grows and is next week I am going to bloom at their best. I thought that the sight of cherry blossoms across the best.

  • Good view from the top of the castle. It costs 500 yen for adults, and it includes the tower in the center as well as three turrets on the sides of the castle. A nice surprise was a big bird cage by the shrine.
