Imabari Castle, Imabari

3.9
#2 of 8 in Historic Sites in Imabari
Step back in time and explore the early 17th-century atmosphere at Imabari Castle, one of the three well-known "castles on the sea." Though destroyed by order of the Meiji rulers, the edifice underwent reconstruction in 1980. Observe the citadel's ingenious seawater moat, which can control the water level through use of the tides and a series of sluice gates. As you enter, note the unusual main gate, featuring iron plating and turrets. Climb to the top of the castle for views of the surrounding complex, moat, and cityscape and port beyond. • Castle parking lot is outside of the moat, the Castle also ohaza shrine parking area. This time out, entered the castle with moat. A little friendly can walk freely on the stone wall,. Never fall because no fence and scary, I think.

  • Tōdō Takatora Uwajima Castle castle in Imabari Castle, Imabari Castle is especially terrible trenches. Similar to Takamatsu Castle incorporating sea because the sea is so close. Sorry the 見renakatta slowly out of the Typhoon's heavy rains and strong winds at Imabari Castle is bought and come from read slowly. The hisamatsu Edo period feudal Lord's bandwagon to read well, soon competed in the former Shogunate forces attached to the new Government. Matsuyama clan, clan is 朝敵 remaining Castle, Imabari Castle is about new Government demolished Castle in a very early stage. Is the current Castle reconstruction, exhibited, such as ones of the Lord from generation to generation. Access is good, parking is also located near the Castle.

  • Very nice place! Superb views and clean surroundings. And you can see their rich history inside the castle.
  • Good view from the top of the castle. It costs 500 yen for adults, and it includes the tower in the center as well as three turrets on the sides of the castle. A nice surprise was a big bird cage by the shrine.
  • Castle on the water. Very nice. Natural museum section, which talks about the nature around the castle, Imabari and Seto Inland Sea in general, is included in the main tower.
  • Nice looking structure and surrounding
  • Amazing architecture

The accommodations of Imabari sit in the main city center on Shikoku, as well as on the islands of Oshima, Hakata, and Omishima. Business hotels predominate in the main urban area close to the station, with standard rooms, pools, and onsite restaurants. The islands offer more variety and character when it comes to places to stay. Look along the coast of each and you'll find traditional guesthouses, known as ryokans, as well as a couple of larger resorts.
