Genbi-kei, Ichinoseki

(4/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
Hike along a ravine, then put some money in a reeling basket to order tea and sweet rice dumplings from across a rocky river gorge at Genbi-kei. Beguiling with its elegance and size, the ravine throbs with huge amounts of rushing water. Cross a vertiginous suspension bridge and reach an inn famous for its steamed buns, serving as a good pit stop and an attraction in its own right. The area provides excellent views of eroded rock and swirling water. Worth an hour-long detour if you are already in the area, the gorge can be easily accessed by bus from a nearby temple built into a cliff. By using our Ichinoseki travel itinerary planner, you can arrange your visit to Genbi-kei and other attractions in Ichinoseki.
