Kushiro Shitsugen National Park, Hokkaido
(3.9/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
A train ride across the marshes will take you to Kushiro Shitsugen National Park, Japan’s largest undeveloped wetland area, spreading across 269 sq km (104 sq mi). After crossing many steel bridges and wooden planks, you'll reach a strangely shaped metal area--the Kushiro marsh observatory--giving you a panoramic view of the expanse of wetland. Famous for its population of red-crested white cranes, a symbol of Japan, the marsh habitat provides the only wild home for this species, which nearly became extinct early in the 20th century. You can see spotted deer and birds of prey as you hike through the national park, as well as steam-engine spotting or taking a canoe ride. By using our Kushiro-cho vacation planner, you can arrange your visit to Kushiro Shitsugen National Park and other attractions in Kushiro-cho.

  • Plain, Hokkaido Kushiro in Japan's largest wetland. Area: 28788 ha. 7/31/1987 specified in the 28th National Park in Japan. To Kushiro-Shitsugen Kushiro Marsh Observatory (charges apply), hosooka Observatory, Observatory 夢ヶ丘, salvo Observatory, cotter mire prospect I've seen partly drive units and a variety of locations and observation deck a different can enjoy beautiful views. Hot roots tree road and Kushiro River canoe trips are also very popular.

  • I visited for the first time. Japan's largest wetland. Watch from the observation deck of the couple, stroll the walkway, down Kushiro River in a canoe, ride norokko and various appearances by season? It seems a lot to enjoy. Well worth a visit anyway.

  • View the wetland on the senmō main line, the middle looks out the window. Unfortunately on a rainy day, but still Windows filled with green and Marsh was a spectator. No human hands and not impressed. If I wanted to watch sunny bog!...
