Housed in the Museum are artifacts donated to the Hikone II family II family treasures, and all the artistic and historic value. Exhibits include ancient armor, Noh costumes and utensils, as well as related to the II family. In addition, Noh stage have banged in the middle of the Museum, but this is now only one remains without former table of seems. You can also (quite wide) has become a considerable space for 3 minutes about museum restored the omote-goten, memories of that time. Restored portion is part of the daily life of the Lord in the main so-called inner Dunhuang Navigator and I 浮kabaremasu Hikone stay at Lord of life, and even garden isn't reproduced detail. It seems way this restored mansion can be rent in tea ceremony, etc. I think we confirmed the schedule so there is special exhibits to other museums as well. Scheduled in the square outside the Museum after the plane to cat I appeared.

Exhibits fear is real. Among the Museum exhibits replicas of many I think, but not here. Banners carried at or Naosuke II's armor and was surprised. You can also shoot and if you use the Flash. Also, time to plane to's front yard? To appear.

The best value tourist attraction even in the castle. There are detailed explanations about the history of Hikone(which said it belonged to Ishida Mitsunari by the way, before the Ii family razed it and rebuilt it), tea rooms, medieval artifacts... and it's clean and well maintained. You might need a good command of Japanese to fully enjoy it though as English introductions are not too thorough.

There are many exhibits. The main cultural exhibits. Omote-goten is impressive.

It is pretty good. In the elderly, not able to rise to the Hikone Castle, or crowded abandoned people. This is more than enough.

Where to stay in Hikone

Few international travelers stay the night in Hikone, with most electing to see the castle, admire the lake, and be on their way. Three hours from the capital, and one from Kyoto, Hikone visits usually come as part of a trip from the capital to Kyoto, or a day trip from the latter. Those that do opt to stay in Hikone can choose from a good number of standard hotels between the main train station and the castle grounds, as well as some more characterful, traditional ryokans around the district of Kawara to the south.
