  • It is with fine gradient from Lake Biwa is a strong image of the Castle. Round from the Tower District feeling pretty good. Little castle is among the exhibited gate tower and Watchtower, history fan would miss.

  • I spent a lot of time wandering around this castle and the grounds when I lived in the area back in the early 00s and it really is a very lovely place. And unlike many others that have been rebuilt, this one is old and authentic. And a great place for hanami.
  • Small castle but very authentic. The museum is interesting though not very big. The garden is also quite nice. Walk through the plum orchard during the off season and you'll have the place almost to yourself. It's a lovely walk around to the gardens.
  • Charming little castle with attached stroll-around-a-pond garden, also charming. Worth a visit, except if you're only on a short trip, when it's probably not worth effectively devoting a day to.
  • I really loved my visit at Hikone Castle. Surrounded by a beautiful park, the Castle provides beautiful views over Hikone and over to Lake Biwa. You will need to walk some steps uphill though :-)
  • One of the most beautiful castle of ancient medieval Japan. Amazing that the effort that went into building this place.
