Mt. Asahidake, Higashikawa-cho

4.7
#1 of 12 in Things to do in Higashikawa-cho
The highest peak in Hokkaido, Mt. Asahidake rises formidably to 2,291 m (7,516 ft) above sea level. Winter on this volcanic mountain brings skiers and snowboarders, relishing the powder of its unspoiled slopes, while in summertime, hikers make the hearty ascent to the summit, complete with steaming vents and a crater. The trek from the foot of the mountain is a grueling 4.5-hour slog, worthy for experienced hikers; if you want something a little less intensive, take the healthy hike after riding the gondola up to Sugatami. From here you can either follow a 60-minute circular trail, observing ponds and sulphurous vents, or walk for roughly two hours on a well-marked path up and along the crater's edge. Have your camera ready at the summit for some dramatic views and steaming bellows. You'll need hiking boots, plenty of water and snacks, and altitude-appropriate dress. Add Mt. • Best sealed asahidake, Hokkaido. All the people who have visited the place in here will never forget the memories of a lifetime. That's because a special and beautiful place. If you're a 1-2 hours by car from Asahikawa to asahidake Onsen area asahidake ropeway to. A day depending on the weather and have me do not necessarily operate a visit the day before to visit the morning after checking whether the service through the website. Went driving away from Sapporo to hit on guys, talk of hetang often heard. I went for the first time in the year 2008 had come to asahidake and. At the time, despite being cold and sunburn may is stymied, flowers and having your eyes can see. This time I went in the beginning of October. By the end of October last year the leaves are curled and leaves a pretty early this year but was the whole shape. I was very much else. Ropeway fares are expensive to operate in South Korea because of the travel agent's package doesn't stop here. A true Downer passage. Many people visit this place, where you can soak up the great outdoors when you could be ... I have a 5-minute walk from the ropeway, and three nights in the hotel to bear tied in Monte. The evening eating and watching the stars of the night sky from time to time, the most secluded. If you're planning a trip to Hokkaido just asahidake heard. I'm not going to regret it. And I'm a 5-year-old child were walking a bit to take with the crowd. However, if walking around the course like a hill or Tor and no flat walks if you are called. Japan are for younger children and babies at all bars on many people. Little children, do not hesitate to visit I got. However, warm clothes are a must.

  • It is Hokkaido's highest mountain. The wide-open desolate soon and is just off the ropeway is a high plateau, such as hiking trails, climb to the top. The day after climbing weather will bad views from the Summit are almost invisible. Many people need equipment and even old slope is.

  • Sun, a couple of minus degrees, no wind and perhaps 50 cm of snow on average. Had the right high hopes for this place and these were met by a wide margin. Incredibly beautiful with views, snow, smoke from the underworld and the mountain. Had hopes of going over the Hill and beyond but after 7an, we got to turn with poor equipment (required isskor, rods and glasses, in addition to what we had). Did not so much due to the view
