  • Huge and beautiful. Great place to spend half a day. It is well planned and exhibits are well laid out. And it is simply beautiful, even if you are not an art fan. Some of the sculptures are amazing, some are really fun and the Picasso exhibition is wonderful. They didn't forget the children, so there are several interactive displays (the colorful nets are great) and there is a nice indoor playground. Definitely worth a visit.
  • I loved this place so much when I came several years ago that I came back this time when I visited Japan. Hakone in general is well worth a visit, but this museum makes it worth a visit just on its own. The grounds re beautiful, the views are unbelievable, and the art seems a part of the landscape. Some of the sculptures are fun and whimsical, some are creepy or unsettling, some are simply beautiful to look at. Easily my favorite is the stained glass tower, which photos can't do justice. The hot-spring fed foot bath is a very nice touch, especially if you've been on your feet all day. There's also an entire building of Picassos. The sculpture lab inside is also fun to fool around in for a bit.
  • A great place to visit that isn't a major city. As a person interested in art I could easily spend the whole day there, but it's set up well for anyone. It rained the whole day, but we still enjoyed going. It's easy to find and walkable from the nearest station or bus stop. The surrounding area has plenty of onsen and beauty, too, so it's definitely a good place to stop - especially if you have a rail pass.
  • Like a giant garden, but with extra pretty things! Well worth a look. Perhaps a little pricey, but you could spend hours here.
  • Art made fun. I do wish more pieces were interactive to fully make use of the space and theme of the park/museum - further optimize the involvement of the visitors. Recommend folks interested in this park to also check out the モエレ沼公園if you happen to visit Hokkaido. Wonderful balance of art and fun over there too.
