Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu, Hakone-machi

4.3
#1 of 14 in Historic Sites in Hakone-machi
Tucked away on the forested shores of Lake Ashi, Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu stands as one of the nation's major Shinto sites. Founded originally in the 8th century, the complex includes buildings that date back to the 1660s. The grounds feature an array of wooden structures with swooping rooftops and a distinctive black-and-red color scheme, all surrounded by dense cedar woods. Note that many dragons and dragon-like creatures from Japanese mythology adorn the interiors of the shrine's buildings, intended to protect the site from evil spirits. Don't miss the entryway of the main shrine--this red gate, just offshore in the waters of the lake, represents one of the most iconic scenes anywhere in the country. • Trip by Hakone, Hakone shrine area. Blessed with the weather on the day and staff is a family picture in front of the Torii gate. Do overseas tourists had visited many, but benefited from the views of the beautiful Japan? I felt.

  • Gora ⛩ is, is when you go! ASHI, Hakone shrine located on the Lake of Lake water gate is known as the "gate of peace". What was built to celebrate the peace treaty signed with the United Nations in 1952 (0/1952), the present Emperor's shirei and the United States to. The place really healed! Many foreign people recommend.!

  • I've always thought about it. Birds in the lake, and finally arranged for this tour, you can sit on the side of the lake along the path to the bird 抇 photos, and then go up the mountain to visit the shrine, the environment is very beautiful.

  • The temple is quite small and partially under construction. It's very close to the port and one of its Torii (the big red gate) is just beside the lake so it's hard to miss. If you take a pirate cruise, it's only 5-10 minute walk from where you get off. I wouldn't say it's a must-see but you should only come if you have time to spare and haven't been to many Japanese temples.
  • Temple is small with a restuarant near the middle landing. People queued up to enter the shrine. We had to perform a brief ritual walking around a circular post three times. The more famous part of the shrine is at the tori gate by the sea.
  • Beautiful shrine with quite a bit to see. Easy to get there from the bus station by foot. Also has a lake side path.
  • Magical and awesome! I would love to travel again at Hakone!
  • Peaceful, Beautiful, Quiet Japanese style temple. You can feel the historical vibe.
