Hakone Sekisho, Hakone-machi

(2/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
A carefully restored Edo-period traffic checkpoint, Hakone Sekisho once monitored a strategic Tokaido road between Tokyo and Kyoto. Originally built in 1619, the current wooden structure was one of the biggest of all 53 Tokugawa-period checkpoints, focusing mainly on weapons trafficking. Strategically located, the spot also offers great views of Lake Ashi. A great attraction for history buffs, the museum features an impressive collection of matchlocks, great bows, spears, mannequins, documents and other accessories, giving an insight into Japanese politics at the time. You can reach the site easily from Odawara station, but you won't find any onsite parking. Plan to see Hakone Sekisho and other attractions that appeal to you using our Hakone-machi vacation planner.

  • It is especially bad because it was raining, but exhibits is under one roof. Seems to have somehow plunges in the Edo period, it is fun. Because the area is so wide so much unnecessary time. No toilet in the outside a little bit away so be careful.

  • That hope is a very important institution, but surprisingly small and was operated by the 20 + people, I was surprised. Spied vehicles and hurried up the stairs, from Reed, overlooking the Lake and this barrier. Scientifically validated and rebuilt it, so to firm up will be studied. Might have felt will lower the costs of admission 500 yen is very high scale.

  • Did not pass during the Edo period tops the Bill as draconian and Hakone checkpoint. Facilities of the barrier has now been restored to the oblivious while can easily pass. If you look inside the facility and Museum is free.
