Hakone Museum of Art, Hakone-machi

4.3
Soak in the local culture through a range of Japanese pottery and ceramics pieces at Hakone Museum of Art, a building set in the midst of crafted gardens. Ranging from prehistoric to early modern period, the collection gives you a good overview the craft, particularly medieval Japanese ceramics. Ritual terra-cotta clay figures, marked as a national treasure, as well as flamed earthenware jars showcase the skills of craftspeople through the centuries. Part of the museum complex also features gardens with trees, moss, bamboo, and stones; and a tea house tops the garden area. The location, accessible by cable car, also provides a mountain view. • In the autumn, the temperature difference after the cold, green, Yan-red, brightening-yellow maple leaves begin to overflow, as if a beautiful cosmetic dance will be on the field. Maple 頃 visited the Hakone to visit the Maple name-Hakone Museum of Art, in addition to the collection of a large number of art products, but also a fine carved Japanese court park, with the ancient temple, Gu, Japanese-style construction of the maple feeling of swaying, more poetic meaning. Born like Spring cherry like 絢, died like autumn maple meditation beauty, but also to remind themselves to live in the moment.

  • The gardens are extraordinary. Large rocks, a cascading stream, moss lawns tended carefully by hand. Shrubs and trees arranged into a delightful scene. The tea house is a serene place to view the gardens while enjoying refreshment. The museum is 5 large rooms over 2 floors, mostly displaying pottery dating back hundreds of years. No context, explanation, or 'all singing and dancing' multimedia like people want these days, but interesting and often beautiful objects worth seeing. There is a smaller museum hosting more pottery and some historical information about the founder of the museum.
  • Wonderful and beautiful place where Master Mokichi Okada began to build his plan of paradise on earth. In this Museum are located some of the most important artworks that were collected by Okada. The museum is separated in the main building, the garden of musgs, the open air museum and the summer house of Mokichi Okada. The museum is opposite to Daikomio temple and Shibikiu temple and, below Okada's Mausoleum.
  • Well worth visiting, lovely gardens. Not large and easily walkable. The galleries are ok, but the gardens are the highlight.
  • The gardens are beautiful and the tea room very nice. Id suggest stopping by if you have some free time, but wouldnt suggest going out of your way to see it. The museum itself is small and has some very interesting pottery pieces but definitely not a must see, especially with Gora Park nearby. Still happy we went though.
  • I could enjoy its Japanese style garden where a lot of trees and moss are carefully cultivated. Especially the moss on the ground seems to make its view fantastic!
