Motomachi, Hakodate
(4.3/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Take a stroll through the streets of Motomachi, a neighborhood displaying a strong Western influence in its cuisine and stores. Centering around a five-block-long shopping street, the neighborhood started to develop its cosmopolitan style during the Meiji era, when the number of foreign residents drastically increased. Shops and businesses opened to cater to the tastes of those arriving from across Europe, including German bakeries, French chocolatiers, and European-style tailors that still operate to this day. Take a look at the sweet treats and clothes on offer and choose something to take away with you. Make Motomachi a part of your Hakodate vacation plans using our Hakodate vacation builder.

  • If u have been to Europe you will find this a normal church. Of course the environment is solemn and peaceful. Came here to say a prayer and left.
  • But when you come to Hakodate Coco is the spot you want to explore. Is a city of many attractions community of traditinal wooden house built in historic buildings such as the former Hakodate Ward public hall, Meiji and Taisho era has created the scenic design a nice exotic churches, old British Consulate renovation stylish cafes and restaurants, food and beverage outlets. Like in history since the Meiji era and taishou era slipped feel where you can enjoy your advice is.

  • This is sort a lot of churches in this area, just like the European taste. I think what good would just walk over and slope is pretty tight, so be prepared to keep around.
