Goryokaku Park, Hakodate

4.1
Visit the historic site of Goryokaku Park, a former fortress in the shape of a five-pointed star. Built in the 1850s, the fort owes its curious shape to Ayasaburo Takeda, who designed it to optimize defence and gun placement. Roam the fort complex, a public park since 1914, and take a relaxing walk along the moat, lined with lush cherry blossom trees. Climb to the top of the 100 m (328 ft) tall observation tower to enjoy panoramic views of the fort and its surroundings. While listening to their voices beyond the and so on someiyoshino ezo cherry trees near our House and this one, we walked, so smaller leaves and flowers together so neat. Again the end will I try to find where your climb to the Tower, you can see and go across the bridge during the day I'm looking forward to next year if different views, views cherry blossom cherry blossoms around the moat.

  • I went during the Snowy time of Winter, The snow was so pure and untouched, and there were not many people.
  • A place often ignored by most tourists as they all squeeze their way into mt hakodate. However this park has a tower that gives you one of the best place to see views of hakodate and it's 5 star night view The tower provides a 360 view including the goryokaku park light up at night!! The park itself is amazing for something constructed during the period. A definite visit if you don't like crowds Most of the visitors are local or Japanese from other cities.
  • The tower offered some great views and delicious treats, and the park was pretty neat. Seemed a bit empty though, and visiting in early April meant no snow and no leaves, so everything just felt dead.
  • Amazing place. The park is free, but going up the tower is chargeable. I think you can have a picnic here if you have time. Highly recommend for you to go up the tower as the view is amazing. The first time I was here I did not go up the tower as we didn't have time, second time I came here, went up the tower and the view is amazing. The ticket was $930¥ for adults if I'm not wrong. Definitely less than $1,000¥ per pax. Highly recommend for you to come in Spring. I was here in Spring last year, and end of Summer this year... Sep is not full bloom autumn yet, else autumn would probably be really pretty too.
  • A historical place with superb landscape and modern tower as a remembrance
